I've heard so much of Ted Dekker, and this book really did him justice, it was an awesome read. Even though the book is big, it's a fascinating fast read. I'm not really a fan of historical fiction, but Dekker writes amazingly, especially of Europe. The romance was passionate, strong, beautiful, one of the things that I really loved it.
The story takes place in Russia, 1722 and it's pretty well written, plus we got vampires in the mix, which I really enjoy it, i love vampire stories. The characters are fantastic, each one brings something different to the story.
I've read other reviews, some saying that the switch from first to third person narrative was unexpected and confusing, but, yeah, it was confusing at first, but then you get used to it, it was not something that i would put on a negative perspective. It was weird, but it was quite alright. I loved this book, it's a fantastic and different read.
